To my first born child,
As the days get closer to meeting your new sibling, I realized that I am cherishing these last few moments of us together. Just you and I. You made me a mother. How did I ever get so lucky to have you as my daughter? You are confident, sassy, smart and loving. You have shown me things in this world that I have forgotten to see for years at a time. I will never stop loving you and you will never not be my baby.
There are a few things I want you to remember when this sibling arrived. Because of our success with you, we decided it was time for another one. I promise to always have special mommy and me days just with you. My love for you will never cease, instead my heart is growing larger to accommodate the love for two!
I promise to always be your cheerleader in anything you do. Just think, your cheering section will be even larger with siblings who will support you in your decisions. Even though you are only 20 months, I can see how you approach things in this world and I am excited to see where life takes you. You show a compassionate side that I can’t wait to nurture. Your love for animals and random adventures makes me smile and I know that this will carry on throughout the years.
Baby girl, I want to thank you. Thank you for giving me endless smiles. For proving to me that I could do it. Being a first time mom while in full time nursing school, you gave me the motivation to finish. You brought your dad and I even closer which I didn’t know was possible. When you were born, you were a part that we didn’t even know was missing. Our lives have become so much better since the moment we found out we were pregnant.
You have taught me to look at life with new eyes. From seeing birds on telephone lines to sitting 20 minutes and watching fish swim by, you have shown me the importance of slowing down. Once we slow down, we can really take in the world around us. Before having you, I went through day by day, forgetting to stop and smell the flowers. Now, I can’t go on a walk without stopping to describe the vibrant colors or describing the environment around me. You have taught me to appreciate the little moments. Even if it means getting a kiss from you or the forever snuggle.
I hope I never forget the way you say daddeeeee. You are such a daddy’s girl and it just fills my heart to the brim. You refuse to let us sing, and the moment we try, you immediately tell us to make google do it. You are a food lover and when we ask you about what you dreamt about, you immediately say nana. In the past two weeks, you have started to take our finger and lead us to where you want to go. Your passion for everything dido is amazing. From dory to dogs, dido is your word. You lift up my shirt to constantly pat and kiss the baby. I know you are going to be the best big sister.
As I hit 35 weeks, I feel a yearning to spend all my time with you. I just want to constantly have you in my arms because you were my first baby. You are the special little girl who made me a mother and I couldn’t be more thankful. I love you baby girl.
Now spread your wings and lets explore life together.
